WHY THE BREAD & BUTTER WAY

Bread baking should feel good - not stressful

You don't need heavy equipment, a dough/sourdough starter babysitter schedule, or a degree in fermentation. You need a method built for real life.

Meet Your Mentor

Hi, I'm Sandra!

I didn't grow up baking bread. For years, "from scratch" felt overwhelming, I needed a recipe and I followed it to the letter. That changed when my Costa Rican mother-in-law showed me something different: how to feed your family with what you have, without pressure, without perfection, just deep love and simple hands.

When I discovered sourdough, I ran into the same wall most beginners hit, too many voices, too many steps, too much noise. So I did what I always do. I stripped it back to what actually matters, applied the base principles, and built a method that works for real life, raising a family, running a home, owning a cottage bakery. No rigid schedules. No heavy equipment. No babysitting dough.

That's The Bread & Butter Way. One method. Simple tools. Less thinking, more doing.

Now I teach hundreds of home bakers, most of them first-timers, to bake sourdough with confidence, not anxiety. You don't need experience. You don't need perfection. You just need the next step, and I'm here to walk you through it.

You can do this and I'm glad you're here.

GOT QUESTIONS?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need special equipment or ingredients?

Nope. A bowl, a jar, a baking sheet, and an oven — that's it. No dutch ovens, no bannetons, no fancy tools. If it's already in your kitchen, you're ready to bake. For ingredients all you need is flour, water + salt.

What if I've tried sourdough before and it didn't work?

That's actually the most common story here. Most people fail because the method they followed was overcomplicated, not because they did something wrong. Sandra's approach strips it back to what actually matters, so this time feels completely different.

How much time does this actually take?

Less than you think. Hands-on time is under 10 minutes per bake. The rest is just waiting — and your fridge does most of the work. This method is built around real life, not around your dough.

What if I get stuck or have questions?

You're not baking alone. The community is there for exactly that — ask questions, post your dough, share your loaf. You'll get answers from people following the same method, so the help is actually useful.

Is this really free? What's the catch?

No catch. The course, the printables, and the community are completely free. When you're ready to go beyond your first loaf — more breads, more support, live Q&As with Sandra — BBW membership is there. But that's your call, on your timeline.

Do I have to follow a strict schedule?

Not at all. The method is designed to flex around your life — not the other way around. Your dough can wait in the fridge for days. You bake when you're ready.

Do I need a sourdough starter before I join?

No. The course walks you through getting or building one from scratch. Whether you want to make your own, grab one from a friend, or buy a dehydrated starter — it's all covered inside.

How is this different from YouTube tutorials or other free resources?

Most free sourdough content pulls from different methods and teachers — which creates confusion fast. This is one method, one path, one community. No noise, no conflicting advice. Just a clear framework that works.

How is this different from other online baking programs?

Most programs hand you more information than you need and leave you to figure it out alone — more confused than when you started. The Bread & Butter Way does the opposite. One method, simple tools, fewer decisions — and a community of people following the same path. So when you have a question, the answer actually makes sense for where you are. Sandra has filtered out the noise so you don't have to. You just follow the path and bake.

Stop saying "I want to try sourdough."

Start saying "I made my first loaf."
